Protect Yourself from Mouth Cancer with Coffee

Studies on the relationship between coffee and cancer according to some people quite confusing and sometimes contradictory results. That's because drinking coffee could be considered lifestyle factors, others may increase the risk of cancer, such as smoking and alcohol consumption. Drinking four cups of coffee a day can help protect the body from the risk of oral cancer. But, doctors recommend not drinking coffee in excessive doses. Because caffeine in it can increase heart rate and blood pressure.

Some of 1000 chemicals contained in coffee, including antioxidants, may offer protection against various types of cancer. That's according to research by a team from the University of Utah, USA. The study consisted of nine studies conducted in Europe, America, and Central America, by comparing the coffee drinking habits of some 5,000 cancer patients and more than 9000 healthy people. The research also seen smoking, eating and alcohol consumption. The researchers found that regular coffee drinkers the risk of cancer of the mouth and esophagus, 39 percent lower than people who do not drink coffee.

"We have a large enough sample and we combine data from many studies. We have more statistical power to detect between cancer and coffee", said Mia Hashibe, chief researcher, as quoted by the Times of India.
