Gold Production Newmont's 87.15% rise Semester-20

Jakarta - Production Batu Hijau gold mine run by PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara in the first half of 2010 reached 335 000 ounces or up 87.15 percent from the same period last year amounted to 179 000 ounces.

For the production of copper in the mines located in West Nusa Tenggara, up 195 million pounds in the first half of 2009 to 278 million pounds in the same period this year.

In 2010, Batu Hijau is expected to produce 777 000 ounces of gold and 573 million pounds of copper. From the financial statements quoted from the official site of Newmont Mining Corp., Monday (02/08/2010), PT NNT has reached 43.11 per cent of gold production targets during the year 2010 and 48.52 per cent of copper production during the year.

Currently, the subsidiary of Newmont Mining Corp, PT Newmont Indonesia Limited holds 31.5 percent stake in PT NNT. Remaining shares are owned subsidiary of Sumitomo, PT Nusa Tenggara Mining Corporation amounted to 24.5 percent, PT Pukuafu Indah as much as 20 percent, and the joint venture company formed by local government and PT Multiocapital, PT Multi Area to Compete for 24 percent.

With a 31.5 percent stake in the NNT, the production of gold and copper during the first semester of 2010 obtained by Newmont is 170 000 ounces and 141 million pounds.

Companies can achieve gold production target of about 365 000 to 400 000 ounces this year. Meanwhile, copper production is targeted to be acquired 265 million pounds to 290 million pounds dariitambang green stone.
